Discover Some of South America's Iconic Wildlife

Giant anteaters and green anacondas, southern tamandua, burrowing owls, hulking jabirus storks, scarlet red ibises, prehistoric hoatzins, tortoises, caiman and iguanas, elusive mountain lions and prehensile porcupines, frolicking white-tailed deer and armadillos, crab-eating foxes, and the world's largest rodents, capybaras: these are the stars of our wildlife tours.

Our expert guides ensure you get the best views, the best light, and the best moments in the wild - without disturbing wildlife. Enjoy some of South America's finest fauna on carefully curated trips to private nature reserves and farms - without the crowds or flocks of tourists. Los Llanos is your backdrop for an off-the-beaten-path authentic nature experience.
"A three night trip proved the perfect introduction to the wildlife of Llanos wetland savannah area.

We stayed on a private reserve and working cattle ranch avoiding any feeling of mass tourism and enjoyed 4x4 expeditions, walks and 1/2 day riding treks. Fantastic birdlife, herds of capybaras and sights of anteaters, giant otter and electric eel to name a few.

A trip with Wild Llanos tours [ideally min three nights] should be on every Colombia itinerary for those looking for a wildlife adventure.."

"We felt so fortunate to see a variety of animals, including two giant anteaters. I did not expect to fall in love with birds, but gosh, I was just overwhelmed by the amazing variety of species—from kestrels, to ibis, to my favorite: the jabiru! We had excellent guidance on what to look for and how to interact safely with wild animals, especially to make sure that the animals were not disturbed by us. A surprising moment for everyone was coming across a running herd of 50 peccaries on our forest hike—matched only by a serendipitous moment watching a family of fox pups playing together. The landscape, wildlife, and hospitality was amazing. Our tour was action packed but not exhausting, and I was grinning for nearly all of it!"

"Animals were plenty with an outstanding experience walking with a giant anteater who was very relaxed, thanks to expert guidance and placing us in the best viewing experience to not disturb this amazing creature. (...) safari trips to see the incredible variety of birds and mammals with day and night walks, outstanding viewing of tamandua, caiman, capybara and giant anteater. The trip was expertly curated and created. Great service and an outstanding wildlife experience."

Which Season is best?

If you are looking for anacondas, February and March are your best bet. For all other wildlife, Los Llanos are a year round destination. Yes, even during the wet season when savannas are partly flooded, lush and green - breeding ground for birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles.

Green season: May-October
Dry season: December-March
