From Llanos’ sceneries, diverse fauna and distinctive cowboy culture, this tour offers a slice of everything and is a wonderful all-round Llanos expedition boasting with wildlife sightings and truly fascinating insights into the Llanos life and culture - close to the local communities, far from any beaten paths and tourist traps! itinerary briefDay 1 Arrival in the morning, welcome at airport & transfer to hotel Afternoon horseback riding or birdwatching tour at Hacienda La Independencia incl. lunch & dinner Day 2 After breakfast transfer to a natural reserve about 2 hours from Yopal. We have the chance to sight wildlife that has become rare in other parts of the Llanos on jeep drives and walks. After sunset we continue to the village of San Luis de Palenque (1 hr transfer) on the shore of Rio Pauto, where we stay at a hotel. incl. breakfast, lunch, dinner Day 3 After breakfast at the guesthouse we drive for about an hour through picturesque countryside keeping our eyes peeled for colourful birds in the wetlands. Our destination is a tucked-away little farm, "La Candelilla", on the river shore where we meet owner Seco, expert wildlife guide, master cowboy and simply the loveliest guy around, and his family. We take short walks to observe howler monkeys along the river shore and learn about the Llanos' lifestyle and culture in Seco's lived-in open air museum.
