The Crew
Andrés González - General DirectorAs co-founder of Wild Llanos, Andrés uncovers the region's finest wildlife habitats and routes. The native Llanero is a guide with an eye for detail, a sense of humour and a wealth of knowledge. Andrés holds a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Bogotá and a Master's in Science of Renewable Energy from Newcastle University in the UK, but today he much prefers to pull the strings at Wild Llanos. He also dedicates himself to breeding cattle and horses, a great passion of his. Andrés is a certified tour guide and specializes in bird watching and wildlife tracking. He speaks fluent English and Spanish.

Julia Buschmann - Managing DirectorHaving grown up as a horse lover in the German lower Rhine region, the co-founder of Wild Llanos, discovered many parallels in the Llanos - "though more wilderness and a warmer climate" - and lost her heart to the region. As a journalist and trained communications specialist Julia has worked in the fields of tourism, social enterprise, sustainability and environmental protection. She is often the first point of contact for our clients, who praise her organizational skills and clear email responses. As a tour guide, Julia has proven to be a skilled animal tracker. She is fluent in German, English and Spanish.

Santiago Holguín - Ecologist & GuideSantiago has felt his calling already as a child, when he explored the prairies and forests on his family's farm near Yopal. The trained ecologist has worked on numerous conservation projects as a researcher, including the protection of anteaters. Santiago later also discovered his interest in sharing his passion for ecology and biodiversity with visitors to the Llanos. As a certified guide, he confidently leads tours to the various nature reserves and farms of the region. Our clients appreciate his enthusiastic manner, professionalism and deep knowledge. Santiago is fluent in English and Spanish.

Kaya Herkersdorf - GuideHailing from sunny Freiburg, Germany, Kaya loves to explore the world. Her sense of adventure has led her to volunteer in Peru, accompany horse trekking tours in Italy, and work in tourism in Sweden, Brazil and Colombia. She is particularly interested in environmental and social issues. A horse-riding enthusiast who speaks fluent German, Spanish, English and French, she has been guiding international visitors for Wild Llanos since 2019, providing them with in-depth knowledge of the local fauna and infecting them with her passion for this corner of the world.

Mafer Roa - Tour Support & Office ManagerMafer has been the busy bee behind the scenes at Wild Llanos since 2018. With a background in office administration and a certificate in accounting, Mafer keeps an eye on numbers and spreadsheets and looks after the administrative part of the company, including legal documentation and taxation. A born llanera, Mafer enjoys outings to the farm, horse riding and tending to animals. Clients are most likely to meet at her as one of our amazing all terrain drivers, supporting tour logistics by welcoming guests at the airport and taking them to all the great places!

Javier Herrera - Driver & Tour SupportOriginally from Bogotá, Javier moved to Yopal with his family as a child. He has a love for his adopted home, nature and wildlife. Javier is happiest when he is taking our clients across the wild Llanos and showing them one of the last great wilderness areas in Colombia. He had already worked as a driver for tourism and for various conservation projects before joining Wild Llanos in 2022. He is now learning English with great enthusiasm, as he enjoys meeting people from all over the world and hearing about their adventures!

AlmaAlma is our junior guide and is already displaying a great love for adventure. She joined the team in 2023 and soon developed a fascination for animals. Alma never fails to be awed by flocks of birds crossing the sky at sunset. Like all Llaneros, she is an early riser and doesn't want to miss the dawn chorus of the red howlers.
